Growing Your Pilates Business with Social Media

Social media is an important marketing tool for any business, but it can be especially valuable for your Pilates studio. An active social media presence can help you retain new clients and introduce new people to the benefits of Pilates.

Social media helps retain existing clients by giving them a forum to ask questions, voice concerns, and get an inside look at special events. Social media can also help you promote new services, classes, memberships or studio location changes. But best of all, social media is the perfect way to keep your business "top of mind" with your clients.

Social media is also important for marketing your Pilates studio because it allows you to connect with new clients, too. Many people research businesses online before they become a customer, and if they see your Pilates studio on a social media site, it shows them you are an established business. Social media allows you to share images of classes in action so potential clients can visualize themselves as participants before they sign up for services.

There are five key points to managing a successful social media marketing strategy for your studio:

1. Be consistent

You can't post once or twice a week, then forget about social media for a few months. You need to be consistent with your postings so that people who follow you expect to hear from you regularly. Set up a posting schedule and stick to it. Additionally, make sure your studio's information is always up-to-date. If you add a new instructor, change your hours or phone number, don't wait to update your site and accounts — do it immediately!

2. Be visible

Make sure you have a profile on all of the major social networks: Facebook and Instagram are the most important for most Pilates studios, and your Google Business Profile is critical for making sure that you maintain good ranking in Google Maps. Twitter typically sees less local engagement, but it's still a good idea to post there, too, because you never know where a client will find you!

3. Interact with your audience

Social media is an interactive tool — don't just use it to post static content. Respond to comments and questions, share facts and figures about your business but also ask people what they would like to see from your studio over the next year. This will help you stay relevant to your current clients as well as reach out to new ones.

4. Share photos and videos

Photos and videos are a great way to connect with potential clients. You can display images of instructors, students, and services on your social media sites, which will help the people who are considering using your services get a feel for what it's like to be part of your studio community. Posting videos on YouTube is also a great way to share information about new exercises, classes or even client testimonials.

5. Know when to post your content

Try to think like your target audience and determine what information they would find most useful. If you want to get more pregnant women in the studio, post content about that. If you see a lot of rehab patients, post some content about helping people recover from injuries. Know your audience and make posts that they'll find informative.

Develop a Social Media Strategy

In order to share information with potential clients effectively, you need a comprehensive social media strategy that works for your business. Remember that people who interact with you on social media expect an authentic experience — behave in a way that you would in person at your business.
